Works In Progress

Occasionally I like to show people how I arrived at my final picture.  This one is actually a failed experiment.  I was trying to see if Acrylic Paint on canvas would work for larger car paintings.  As near as I can tell, I used the wrong gesso on my canvas (white paint to prepare the canvas).  About 3/4 of the way through, the paint started peeling off!  I painted a bit more, but ultimately abandoned it before the final finishing work.

The tough part was to apply the first coat of paint without losing that precious drawing with all its detail.  Once I got a piece of paint onto every single section I could then go back and do the real painting part that makes it come alive.  In oil paints, that part is painting wet into wet paint.  In Acrylic, I had no idea what to do.  Eventually, with the help of the internet & U-tube, I picked up enough tips to get through.  I’m very happy with the results.
